Its size, age and exceptional growth were decisive for its protection. The 720-year-old cedar is 26 m tall and has a trunk diameter of 2.80 m. It is reached from Elmalı by private vehicle, passing through the Çığlıkara Nature Conservation Area and Doğantaş to the Bölükkatran site. There are no facilities, and as part of a nature conservation area the site is reserved for scientific research only.
