Reviews on Citiveo come only from people who have actually visited the business. This page explains who can write a review, how a visit is verified and how reviews are checked.
1. Who can write a review
To write a review you need a Citiveo account with a verified e-mail address, and your visit to the business must have been verified in one of the two ways below. Each account can write one review per business and can edit it later.
Health institutions cannot be reviewed.
2. How a visit is verified
- Verified by coupon. When a coupon you obtained on Citiveo is scanned at the business's till, your visit is verified. This is the strongest verification.
- Verified by invitation. The business may invite you to write a review: you scan the QR code at the till, which changes every few minutes, or you enter a single-use code the business gives you. The invitation can be used within 30 days. A photographed, printed or expired QR code does not grant a review; a single-use code works only once.
Each review shows how it was verified.
The business's owner and staff cannot review their own business. The number of invitations an account can accept per day is limited, and reviews arriving through many invitations in a short time are flagged for the reviewer.
3. Checked before publication
Every new review and every change to a review is checked by our team before it is published. While it is being checked, the review is not public, does not count towards the rating and earns no points. If you edit a review that is already published, the earlier version stays visible until the new one is approved.
A review may not be published for one of these reasons:
- it is not based on a real experience or is unrelated to the business;
- it contains insults, hate speech, threats or discrimination;
- it contains a phone number, e-mail address, link or other personal data, or advertising;
- it appears to disparage a competitor, to have been written in exchange for something, or to be fake;
- it is repetitive, meaningless or written entirely in capital letters.
If your review is not published, we tell you by e-mail, with the reason.
4. What businesses can do
Businesses cannot delete or change reviews. They can reply to a review publicly and report a review they believe breaks the rules. A reported review is checked again and stays published until the check is complete.
5. Reporting
Every published review has a "Report" link. Reports are checked against the same rules.
6. Rating
A business's average rating is calculated from published reviews only and is shown once there are at least three reviews. Paid plans do not affect reviews or ratings.
