Şah Juniper Natural Monument

Şah Juniper Natural Monument is a monumental stinking juniper (Juniperus foetidissima) within the Çığlıkara Nature Conservation Area in the Elmalı district of Antalya. Located at the Işıkbeli site of Göltarla, the tree was declared a natural monument in 1995, and 0.25 hectares around it are protected as well. Its size, age and exceptional growth are its main values. The juniper is reported to be 996 years old, 22.8 m tall and 2.42 m in diameter. It can be reached from Elmalı by private vehicle via Göltarla to Işıkbeli. There are no facilities. Because the area lies within a cedar research forest, it is used only for educational and scientific purposes; trekking is also listed among its activities.
