About

Koca Cedar Natural Monument is a monumental cedar at the Alıçalanı locality of Göltarla, in the Elmalı district of Antalya. The tree was granted natural monument status in 2002, and an area of 0.25 hectares around it is protected. Its main values are its size, its age and its exceptional growth. Records put the cedar at about 900 years old, with a height of 32.5 m and a trunk diameter of 2.29 m. To reach it, travel first to Elmalı and then by private vehicle to Göltarla and the Alıçalanı site. There are no visitor facilities. As the tree stands within a cedar research forest, the area is used solely for scientific research.
