About
High rock castle in Uçhisar, 5 km from central Nevşehir, formed by two adjoining rock masses. It contains carved dwellings, shelters, cisterns, tombs and storerooms, and served as a defensive refuge during Arab raids. The summit looks over the valleys, Göreme and Avanos, and both Mount Erciyes and Mount Hasan are visible.
