About

Remains of the palace that Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Kayqubad I had built in the 1220s on the south-western shore of Lake Beyşehir, about 100 km west of Konya. Found in 1949, it was excavated in the 1960s by Katharina Otto-Dorn and later by an Ankara University team led by Rüçhan Arık. Its polychrome tiles are displayed at the Karatay Madrasa Tile Works Museum in Konya.
