About the festival
Organised by the Izmir Cinema Culture and Education Association, this short film festival reaches its 27th edition in 2026. Thirty-three finalist films compete for the Golden Cat awards in national fiction, international fiction, national documentary and national animation; the relevant fiction and animation awards are Academy Award qualifying. Screenings take place at the French Cultural Centre, Karaca Cinema, Karşıyaka Çarşı Art Centre and BAYETAV, and all are free. From 5 to 7 November the sixth Izmir Film Lab, a project development platform, meets at the İZQ Entrepreneurship Centre. The programme also includes a joint cinema initiative with Beirut, special selections focused on Germany and Serbia, and animation screenings.
