Çeşme is at the western tip of İzmir, on the peninsula facing the Greek island of Chios. Its main draws are Çeşme Castle and the marina in town, Alaçatı with its stone houses and windmills, and the shallow sandy beach and thermal springs of Ilıca; Alaçatı bay is famous for windsurfing. In summer ferries cross to Chios.
