About

Belemedik Nature Park is a 4,349-hectare protected area in Adana province, 9 km from the centre of Pozantı and 117 km from the city of Adana; it was designated on 2 December 2014. Çakıt Suyu marks its western boundary, while rocky ecosystems belonging to Akdağ cover the northern part. The vegetation forms a sequence from mixed maquis and red pine forest to downy oak and phrygana communities, black pine and Syrian juniper forest, mixed stands of Taurus cedar, Taurus fir and black pine, and mountain steppe. The rugged terrain and forest together shape a landscape that also bears traces of traditional rural life. The wild goat is the most notable animal, and grey wolf, otter, badger and Anatolian ground squirrel are also recorded. The German Cemetery within the area is one of its points of interest. Visitors can hike, camp in tents and take in the views, and accommodation is available in the park.
