About

Adana Museum is a museum complex in the Seyhan district of Adana, housed in the former Milli Mensucat textile factory in the Döşeme neighbourhood. Its history goes back to 1924, when column capitals and sarcophagi gathered from the surrounding area formed the first collection. The museum later occupied a madrasa near Taşköprü (1928), the building at Kuruköprü (1950) and a purpose-built museum (1972). The factory, which operated from 1906 into the 2000s and inspired Orhan Kemal's novel "Bekçi Murtaza", was earmarked for conversion in 2013. The archaeology section opened in 2017 and the mosaic section in 2018; the City, Agriculture, Industry and Fashion museums followed in 2023, and the Popular Culture Museum and the Milli Mensucat Museum in 2024. Spread over 60,924 m², the complex has 11 exhibition sections, a conference hall, an art gallery, a children's workshop and a museum square.
