Mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Republic of Türkiye. Prof. Emin Onat and Assoc. Prof. Orhan Arda won the design competition; construction began on 9 October 1944 and was completed in four phases on 1 September 1953. The Atatürk and War of Independence Museum is on the site. It is run by the Ministry of National Defence.
