About
Regarded as the oldest surviving church in the city, the building was rebuilt in the 9th century under Emperor Basil I according to its inscription. It is a three-aisled basilica with three apses; inside are fresco remains including a crucifixion scene, two Ionic columns, and a marble relief above the south door reused from an earlier Roman building.
