About the festival

The Trabzon Golden Taka Film Festival is a film festival hosted by Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality with support from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's Directorate General of Cinema and the Trabzon Governorship. First held in December 2025, its second edition takes place in the city from 15 to 20 December 2026. At its core are the National Documentary Film Competition and the National Short Film Competition, which covers fiction, documentary, experimental and animation, plus a short-film screenplay competition for students. This edition adds a new award category for films made with artificial intelligence. Alongside the competitions, selections of Turkish and world cinema, special screenings, talks, workshops and exhibitions are planned. The award statuette is named after the taka, the traditional wooden boat of the Black Sea.
