About

Karagöl Yaylası Sarıçamı Natural Monument is a Scots pine standing within a Forestry General Directorate recreation area on the Karagöl plateau in the Taraklı district of Sakarya, declared a natural monument on 16 December 2015. Estimated to be 150–200 years old, the tree is 17 metres tall, 1.5 metres in diameter and 4.5 metres in girth. Its natural value lies in its advanced age and long natural lifespan. Together with the fir tree growing right beside it, it is a good example of a mixed stand. To get there, leave the D-650 Adapazarı–Bilecik highway, continue past the Mahdumlar village junction on the D-150 Taraklı–Göynük road and follow the signs for Karagöl Yaylası.
