About
Archaeological site near Aktepe in Avanos district, spread over three valleys. It holds the Balıklı, Üzümlü, Holy Cross and Direkli churches, a monastery complex, a mill, a winery and dovecotes cut into the slopes. Villagers were moved to Aktepe in 1952 for safety reasons and the site opened as a museum in 1967.
