About
Underground settlement carved into soft tuff, reaching a depth of about 85 metres. It contains stables, cellars, dining halls, churches and a place for boiling grape molasses; a 55-metre ventilation shaft also served as a well. It opened to visitors in 1965 and about 10 percent is accessible today. It is a component of the UNESCO World Heritage property.
