Bayır Cypress Natural Monument

Bayır Cypress Natural Monument is a cypress tree in the Camiyanı area of Bayır neighbourhood in the Marmaris district of Muğla. It was declared a natural monument on 21 February 1995 and is 32 metres tall with a trunk diameter of 2 metres. Because the inside of the trunk has largely decayed and become hollow, the tree's exact age could not be determined. The cypress stands in the same courtyard as Bayır Mosque and the Çınaraltı coffee house, alongside the Bayır Plane Tree, which is also a natural monument. Visitors can therefore see two monumental trees together in this square, the village's meeting place. Bayır can be reached by public transport from Marmaris bus station.
