About

Kocakoru Forest Nature Park is a 330.79-hectare forest area within the Taraşçı neighbourhood of the Seydişehir district of Konya. It was declared a nature park in 1998 for its recreational potential and rich flora, and is reached via Seydişehir. Lying in the steppe-forest belt on the north-facing foothills of the Taurus Mountains, the area's ecosystem is defined by Anatolian black pine and Taurus fir together with several oak and juniper species. Rocky terrain and varied habitats still allow large mammals such as brown bear, lynx, wolf, wild goat and wild boar to live here. Golden eagle, goshawk and sparrowhawk breed in the park, which supports 38 bird species, including the southern grey shrike and black stork, as well as 21 amphibian and reptile species. The rugged topography provides several viewpoints, with wide panoramas especially to the east. The area is suitable for walking and day use.
