Samandağ lies in south-western Hatay where the Asi (Orontes) river meets the sea. Its beach, stretching for kilometres, is an important nesting ground for green and loggerhead sea turtles; Musa Dağı, the Armenian village of Vakıflı, and the Titus Tunnel and Beşikli Cave at Çevlik are within the district.
