About
Troy Museum stands at the entrance to the ancient city of Troy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in Tevfikiye village in the Merkez district of Çanakkale. The building has 11,200 square metres of enclosed space, including 3,000 square metres of exhibition area. Construction began in 2013, stalled for a time, resumed in 2017, and the museum opened in October 2018. All the holdings of the Çanakkale Archaeology Museum were moved here, and the official opening took place on 18 March 2019. The visit starts on a descending ramp whose niches introduce the layers of Troy through gravestones, sculptures, reconstructed scenes and photographs. An introductory zone explains dating methods and basic archaeological concepts with diagrams and interactive tools. The collection includes statues, sarcophagi, inscriptions, altars, milestones, Palaeolithic tools, pottery, metal vessels, gold objects, weapons, coins, glass bracelets and perfume bottles. Stone pieces are arranged within the landscaped garden, and dioramas and touch screens support the displays.
Opening hours (muze.gov.tr, October 2026): 08:30–17:30, ticket office closes at 17:00. Open daily. Paid entry; the Müzekart museum pass is accepted.
