Gelibolu
Harbour town at the northern mouth of the strait, known for sardines, the Piri Reis Museum and the Saros shore.
Gelibolu is the harbour town at the northern end of the Dardanelles, where the strait opens into the Marmara. It is known for the Piri Reis Museum in its castle tower, the fishing harbour and its sardines; the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and ferries link it to Lapseki, and the beaches of the Gulf of Saros are on its western shore. Most of the Gallipoli Historical Site lies further south, in Eceabat.
