About
Sorgun Pond Nature Park is located in the Güdül district of Ankara. Designated in 2011 with an area of 50 hectares, its boundaries were redrawn in 2016 after private land was identified inside it, bringing the total to 54 hectares. Two routes of about 103–104 km each lead here from Ankara, one via the Ayaş road and the other via the İstanbul motorway. The park preserves the island-like woodlands that survive in the middle of the steppe, where black pine, juniper and, in places, oak dominate. The surrounding Astragalus steppe holds shrubs and small trees such as wild pear, hawthorn, wild rose, blackthorn, wild almond, barberry and cotoneaster. Woodpeckers, goldfinches, squirrels, brown bears, wolves, jackals, badgers and martens are among the recorded animals. Facilities include toilets, a country restaurant, a country house, open-air event areas and a children's playground; visitors can picnic, walk forest trails and camp with tents or caravans.
Entry hours (DKMP, October 2026): 08:00–22:00.
