About the festival
The Ankara Film Festival is organised by the World Mass Communication Research Foundation and reaches its 37th edition in 2026. The nine-day programme centres on national competitions: ten films compete in the National Feature Film Competition, nine in the National Documentary Competition and fifteen in the National Short Film Competition. A separate VEKAM award goes to films with Ankara as their subject. Alongside the competitions there are screenings of Turkish and international films and talks with visiting filmmakers. Screenings take place in cinemas across the city, and the festival ends with the closing and awards ceremony on the evening of 20 November.
