About

Obruk Waterfall Nature Park lies in the Saimbeyli district of Adana, 5 km from the district centre and 160 km from the city of Adana. The 257.10-hectare area was designated on 11 May 2018 and takes its name from the waterfall, its most important feature. It sits in a region bordered by Feke, Tufanbeyli and Sarız, as well as Göksun in Kahramanmaraş province and Develi in Kayseri province. Besides the waterfall and other water sources, the park is one of the habitats of an endemic butterfly, Polyommatus theresiae, known as the Saimbeyli blue or Theresa's blue. Red pine, black pine, Grecian juniper and aspen grow here alongside herbs such as sage, thyme, St John's wort, chamomile and Taurus mountain tea. Recorded animals include the grey wolf, otter, common buzzard, kestrel, chameleon, spur-thighed tortoise and the Near Eastern fire salamander. The park has day-use areas, a small mosque and gazebos, and supports hiking, tent and caravan camping, photo safaris and butterfly watching.
