Über den Ort
Archaeological site about 18–20 km north of Denizli covering the white travertine terraces formed by calcium carbonate from thermal water and the ancient city of Hierapolis above them. The city was founded by the kings of Pergamon in the 2nd century BC; it has a theatre, baths, temples, churches and a large necropolis. It has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List as Hierapolis-Pamukkale since 1988.
An audio guide service is available. The South and North gates and the pedestrian entrance close at different times.
