Über den Ort
Citadel in Altındağ on the hill above the historic centre. The first fortification on the site is attributed to the Phrygians in the 8th century BC; the present inner and outer walls are thought to date from after the Persian destruction of 622. The inner citadel encloses an area of about 350 by 150 metres and contains the Alaeddin Mosque. The walls give views over the city and towards the Hacı Bayram Mosque.
