About
Tectonic lake between Sakarya and Kocaeli provinces. According to the governorship it covers about 47 km², is up to 61 m deep and lies 31 m above sea level. It supplies Sakarya's drinking water; picnic and camping areas line the shore, and it hosts national and international sailing, surfing and rowing races.

Visitors are asked not to enter the water or reed beds; the lake is a drinking water source.
