About
Museum run by Adapazarı Municipality in memory of those who died in the 17 August 1999 Marmara Earthquake; it opened in 2004. The building is designed to look like a collapsed structure, with tilted columns and broken walls. It shows photos of the 1967 and 1999 earthquakes and has a platform that simulates the magnitude 7.4 quake.
Curator tip
The simulation area is not advised for visitors with heart conditions or panic disorder; groups should call ahead.
