About
Settlement 7 km north-west of central Konya, built on both sides of a deep, narrow valley. It is now a neighbourhood of Selçuklu municipality and a protected urban conservation area. Inhabited since Phrygian times, it was a stopping point on the Istanbul–Jerusalem pilgrimage route in the Byzantine period. It has mosques, churches, rock-cut churches and catacombs.
