About the festival
The death of Mevlânâ Jalal ad-Din Rumi on 17 December 1273 is commemorated in Konya every year from 7 to 17 December. Under the name Şeb-i Arus ('wedding night'), sema ceremonies are held; ceremony tickets are sold on the konyakultur e-ticket site. The Mevlevi sema ceremony has been on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list since 2008. The city receives heavy tour traffic in this period.
