Karatay covers the eastern part of Konya's historic centre. The Mevlana Museum, home to the tomb of Jalal al-Din Rumi, Selimiye Mosque, the Bedesten bazaar and the Mevlana Cultural Centre are in this district; the Şeb-i Arus ceremonies held every December take place at the centre.
