About
Subaşı Havuzlar Natural Monument consists of two oriental plane trees in the village of Subaşı, in the Çatalca district of İstanbul. Records state that the two trees were already standing here long before the village was founded. Monumental in both their physical features and their historical value, the planes were registered as a natural monument by ministerial approval on 7 February 1995. Also known as the Subaşı-Havuzlar Plane, the monument's age is recorded as 792 years. Natural monument status is meant to preserve the trees and their immediate surroundings in their natural state, so visitors should take care not to damage the trunks, roots or branches.
