Ortaköy Square
A Bosphorus-side square with the mosque, the bridge and kumpir stalls.
- Pedestrian
- On the Bosphorus shore, beside the bridge
- Liveliest: Weekends and sunset
- Buses on the Beşiktaş–Sarıyer coast road
Ortaköy Square opens onto the water in front of Ortaköy Mosque, on the European shore of the Bosphorus. With the bridge rising behind the mosque, it is one of the most photographed views in Istanbul.
The square is ringed by cafés, kumpir and waffle stalls and small shops, and it gets busy at weekends. At sunset it is a good place to start a walk along the shore.
Getting there: take one of the buses running along the coast road from Beşiktaş or Taksim to the Ortaköy stop.
