About
A cave church on the slope of Mount Stauris, associated with St Peter. The façade was added in later periods; inside are 4th–5th-century mosaic remains. On the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List (2011). Its retaining wall collapsed in the 2023 earthquake; it reopened to visitors in early 2024 after repairs.
Curator tip
A Catholic mass is held here every 29 June.
