Getting around Çanakkale

The municipal Ç8 line serves Çanakkale Airport and the Ç9 line the intercity bus station. Many lines, including Ç1, Ç3, Ç5, Ç7, Ç8, Ç9, Ç11K, Güzelyalı and Çınarlı, call at the İskele (pier) stop. Ç11G runs to Güzelyalı and Dardanos, and Ç7 to the Anadolu Hamidiye batteries.

City buses start at 06:50 at the earliest and the last runs end at 01:05. The Ç9 bus-station line runs 24 hours a day. Live bus positions are shown in the Kentkart app.

City buses accept a QR ticket, a contactless bank card, an NFC phone or a Kentkart; cash is not accepted. A full city fare is 30 TL, a student fare 19 TL and campus shuttle rides 4.5 TL.

No transfer is counted in the first 5 minutes after boarding; from minute 6 to 30 a change to another line is free, and from minute 30 to 40 half the fare is charged. Between the Güzelyalı or Ç9 lines and any other line, transfers are free from minute 6 to 90. Transfers do not apply between a line and its express version, or at the same stop.

GESTAŞ car ferries cross the strait. The Çanakkale–Eceabat and Çanakkale–Kilitbahir lines also run at night; Lapseki–Gelibolu leaves every half hour by day and hourly at night. In the 5 October 2026 timetable, Kabatepe–Gökçeada and Geyikli–Bozcaada have four sailings a day each way, plus a late sailing to Bozcaada on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. At busy times ferries may run without a fixed timetable. Cancellations and extra sailings: +90 444 0 752. Lorries and trucks are not carried on Çanakkale–Kilitbahir.

Licensed taxis of Çanakkale Municipality carry plates 17 T 0001 to 17 T 0299; 150 taxis work from 26 stands and waiting points. Eight cars wait at the İskele (pier) rank in the morning and eight at night. Complaints go to 444 17 17 or the WhatsApp line +90 533 703 0 703.
