About the festival
The Umurlu Camel Wrestling event is one stop of the traditional camel wrestling season that runs through the winter months in Aydın province. According to the 2026–2027 calendar announced by the Camel Wrestling Federation (DEGÜF), it takes place on 15 November 2026 in Umurlu in the Efeler district. This event opens the season in Aydın. Decorated wrestling camels are paired with rivals from the same category and meet in the arena, while drum-and-zurna music, displays by camel owners and local food stalls are part of the day. Some bouts were postponed last season because of foot-and-mouth disease, so check current announcements before going.
