Kuşadası is on the Aegean coast in western Aydın. It is known for the fortress on Pigeon Island, linked to the shore by a causeway, its cruise port, the narrow lanes of Kaleiçi and beaches such as Ladies Beach; ancient Ephesus is about 20 km away. To the south is the Dilek Peninsula–Büyük Menderes Delta National Park, and in summer ferries cross to Samos.
