About

Kelebekler Valley Nature Park is in the Beypazarı district of Ankara, about 2.6 km as the crow flies from the town centre, and is reached via the Beypazarı–Karaşar road. Designated in 2016, it takes its name from the Kelebekler Valley, which forms its north-eastern and eastern edge, while the İnözü Valley bounds it to the south. The terrain is rugged, with elevations between 760 and 1,010 m and an average of 881 m; Kuş Tepesi and Gerezelininkaş Tepesi rise within the park. The vegetation consists mainly of middle-aged and old forest trees. Black pine, Taurus cedar, juniper, oriental plane, hackberry, walnut, mulberry, hazel, hornbeam and silver lime grow alongside sweet violet, St John's wort, dog rose and ferns. Frogs, snakes, tortoises, woodpeckers, goldfinches, magpies and squirrels have been observed. Because the infrastructure is not yet complete, there are no facilities and the park is temporarily closed to visitors; once open, it is intended for picnics and trail walks.
