About

Kabaardıç Natural Monument is an old juniper tree at the Bayramyeri locality in the Meyilhacılar neighbourhood of the Nallıhan district of Ankara, declared a natural monument on 23 October 2000. Estimated to be about 750 years old, the tree is 20 metres tall, with a trunk diameter of 2.80 metres and a circumference of 9 metres. Growing well beyond the usual size under a typical Central Anatolian climate, the juniper has a forked trunk. Its surroundings have been landscaped and an information sign has been placed at the site. Access is by private vehicle: after kilometre 18 of the Nallıhan–Sarıcakaya (Eskişehir) road, turn onto the Meyilhacılar road for 3 km, then onto the Aliefe road for 700 metres, and follow the signs along the gravel track. Important from a scientific point of view and valued for its aesthetic and cultural significance, the tree is a suitable stop for scientific tours and cultural excursions.
