About

Corinthian temple in the Hacı Bayram quarter, built in the early 1st century AD for Emperor Augustus and Roma after Galatia became a Roman province. Its walls carry the bilingual 'Res Gestae Divi Augusti' inscription on Augustus's deeds, Latin in the pronaos and Greek on the cella wall; it is regarded as the only complete surviving copy of the text. It was converted into a church in the 6th century and later used as a madrasa after the Hacı Bayram Mosque was built in 1427–1428.
